I think magazines have had an influence on the way Americans live. Magazines are very different than other forms of literature/reading. They can focus in on a specific topic, like celebrity drama, an activity, or an event that is taking place in the world. Also, more often than not, magazines provide multiple different points of view to the reader, about whatever the topic is about. This is a good way for the reader to gain a deeper understanding of what they are reading about, and can also educate people in a different way that a book or the news can educate people.
Magazines on the ipad are becoming more popular to read, and are affecting the culture of the USA. Magazines make up or exaggerate stories teaching the concept of gossiping, and stories of celebrities doing things that are wrong making them seem like a good way of getting attention.
Magazines affect body image and people's opinions on things. They can educate you on things you might not have known. A big thing though, is body image. This is due to photoshop altering the way celebrities look.
I think that magazines have influenced the USA in the past but not as much now. I think that the whole physical magazine is slowly going away, and coming to the digital side. People know can have as many as they want on one device.
